Everything IE and SGV Real Estate Agents Want to Know Before They Book

If you have never worked with SoCal Home Photo before or you are new to professional real estate photography altogether, you probably have questions. Here are the answers to the ones we hear most often from agents across the Inland Empire and San Gabriel Valley.

Pricing and Fees

How much does real estate photography cost in the Inland Empire and San Gabriel Valley?

At SoCal Home Photo, real estate photography is priced by square footage with no hidden fees and no surprises:

Under 1,000 sq ft โ€” $200 1,000 to 1,999 sq ft โ€” $250 2,000 to 2,999 sq ft โ€” $300 3,000 to 4,000 sq ft โ€” $400

For a complete breakdown of all services and add-on pricing including drone, twilight, video, virtual staging, and 3D tours visit our Services and Pricing page.

Do you charge travel fees for cities in the Inland Empire and San Gabriel Valley?

No. SoCal Home Photo is locally based in Upland, CA and we charge zero travel fees anywhere in our service area. That includes Rancho Cucamonga, Fontana, Rialto, Ontario, Claremont, La Verne, San Dimas, Glendora, Pomona, Chino Hills, Montclair, Covina, West Covina, Diamond Bar, and Walnut. We are never far from your listing and there is no surcharge for showing up.

Do you shoot on weekends?

Yes but with a $150 weekend surcharge and here is the honest reason why.

My family was not shy about it. Between soccer games, baseball, performances, and just showing up for our kids on a Saturday morning, weekends started disappearing. There are only so many weekends before your kids are in college and starting their own families. We call it the family tax in our house and it is non-negotiable.

The $150 weekend surcharge is not arbitrary pricing. It is what makes weekend availability sustainable without it coming at the expense of the people at home waiting for me to show up.

That said, if you absolutely need a weekend shoot we can make it happen. The surcharge applies and availability is limited but we will not leave you without a photographer when your listing needs to go live Monday morning.

Is there a minimum order?

Our standard photography packages start at $200 for homes under 1,000 square feet. There is no minimum beyond the base package pricing.

Delivery and Turnaround

When will I get my photos?

Every shoot is delivered the next business day. Shoot today, edited MLS-ready photos in your inbox by end of business tomorrow. Every time. That turnaround is consistent listing after listing โ€” you can build your launch schedule around it.

Do you offer same day delivery?

No and that is intentional. Same day delivery typically means rushed editing, batch processing, or AI-corrected images that lack the individual attention each photo deserves. Every image we deliver is individually processed, color balanced room by room, and sky replaced by hand where needed. Next business day delivery is how we maintain consistent quality across every shoot.

What format are the photos delivered in?

You receive three download options with every delivery:

High resolution files optimized for print use including magazine features, large format marketing materials, and premium print applications.

MLS resolution files optimized specifically for MLS upload and online use across Zillow, Realtor.com, and other real estate platforms.

Web optimized files for your property website, social media, and digital marketing.

There is also a custom download option where you can set your own specifications โ€” not recommended unless you know exactly what resolution and format you need for a specific purpose.

Everything is ready to use right out of the delivery gallery with no additional processing required on your end.

The Shoot Itself

How long does a real estate photography shoot take?

Shoot time varies by property size and the services ordered. A standard HDR photography shoot typically runs:

Under 1,500 sq ft โ€” 45 to 60 minutes 1,500 to 2,500 sq ft โ€” 60 to 90 minutes 2,500 to 3,500 sq ft โ€” 90 to 120 minutes 3,500 sq ft and up โ€” 2 hours or more

Adding drone, twilight, or video extends the shoot time accordingly.

Do I need to be present at the shoot?

You do not need to be there personally. I have opened many a lockbox and shot homes completely on my own โ€” honestly in a perfect world that is my preference. No distractions, no waiting, the shoot moves significantly faster when I can work through the property at my own pace.

The property does need to be prepared and accessible before I arrive. If you are unable to attend having the seller or their representative present is fine but not required. For a complete preparation checklist read our how to prepare your home for a real estate photography shoot guide.

What should the home look like before the photographer arrives?

The short answer is if you do not want it in the photos put it away before we arrive. Declutter all surfaces, remove personal items, clear kitchen counters, make all beds, remove products from showers and tubs, take up small rugs unless the floor underneath is dated or damaged, remove kitchen towels, open all blinds and curtains, turn off all ceiling fans, and move all cars out of the driveway and away from the front of the home. For the complete checklist read our how to prepare your home for a real estate photography shoot guide.

Do you move furniture or large items during the shoot?

No. Moving large or heavy furniture creates a liability risk for floor damage and property damage that we are not insured for. Any furniture that needs to be repositioned for the shoot should be moved before we arrive. Small compositional adjustments to items already in place are part of what we do โ€” lifting, dragging, or carrying anything heavy is not.

Do you turn on all the lights?

No. For natural light real estate photography, ambient artificial lighting can work against the final image by creating mixed color temperatures and unnatural color casts. We prefer lights off and work with natural light as the foundation, turning on specific fixtures where the design calls for it. Make sure all bulbs that may be needed are working before we arrive.

Services and Add-Ons

Is sky replacement included?

Yes. Sky replacement is included on every exterior shot at no extra charge. Overcast day, marine layer, smoke, flat gray sky โ€” every exterior is edited with a clean natural sky in post. No need to reschedule over weather.

What is the difference between virtual twilight and real twilight?

Real twilight is a dedicated return visit to the property at golden hour โ€” typically 20 to 30 minutes after sunset โ€” where we capture the exterior with the warm interior glow against a deep blue sky. Four golden hour exterior shots for $250.

Virtual twilight is a post-production technique where a daytime exterior photo is digitally transformed to simulate golden hour. The result is highly convincing and delivers at $20 per photo โ€” a fraction of the cost of a dedicated twilight shoot.

Both are powerful listing tools. If you could only add one thing to your listing media package twilight โ€” real or virtual โ€” is the single most impactful upgrade available. For a full breakdown read our virtual twilight vs real twilight guide.

Do you offer drone photography and video?

Yes. Drone photography is available as a $100 add-on to any shoot โ€” 3 aerial stills from one location. Drone video is also available. For a full breakdown of why drone belongs on almost every listing read our drone photography guide.

What is the difference between a Zillow 3D tour and a standard 360 virtual tour?

Both are captured with the same 360 camera equipment but the key difference is what happens to the images after they are shot.

A Zillow 3D tour goes directly from the camera to the Zillow app with no editing or post-production. The images are not color corrected or enhanced which means image quality is lower than our standard work. The trade-off is seamless Zillow integration โ€” the tour embeds directly into your Zillow listing and gives the property a 3D Home badge in search results that buyers actively filter for.

Our standard 360 virtual tour is fully edited and hosted on our platform. The image quality is significantly better and the result is a more polished immersive experience. The edited tour can still be shared on Zillow, uploaded to the MLS, linked from your property website, and propagated to other real estate sites. It gives you more flexibility and a better looking product across every platform.

For most standard residential listings the Zillow 3D tour is a solid affordable option. For listings where image quality and presentation matter the standard 360 tour is the stronger choice and the better long term marketing asset. For the full breakdown read our Zillow 3D tours guide.

What is virtual staging and when should I use it?

Virtual staging digitally furnishes empty rooms with high-end modern decor to help buyers visualize the potential of a vacant space. At $40 per room it is a fraction of the cost of physical staging with results that photograph just as well. Virtual staging is ideal for vacant listings, investor flips, and any property where empty rooms are making it difficult for buyers to connect emotionally with the space.

Under California AB 723 which took effect January 1, 2026, virtually staged images must be disclosed in your MLS listing as digitally altered.

Do you offer social media reels and video?

Yes. Our Social Media Reel is a 30 to 45 second walkthrough of the property shot horizontally or vertically and professionally edited for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, your property website, or direct upload to the MLS. Available as a $150 add-on to any photo package โ€” one of the best value add-ons in our menu.

Full video tours are also available from $250 as an add-on or $350 as a standalone for homes under 2,000 square feet.

Do you offer a marketing package?

Yes. For $50 added to any shoot, our Marketing Package includes an automatically generated property website with lead capture, branded and unbranded versions, print-ready flyers, social media graphics, and full-motion social media videos โ€” all generated from your listing photos the moment your shoot is delivered. For a full breakdown read our property website guide.

Background and Experience

Do you have a real estate background?

Yes. Before picking up a professional camera, I spent 11 years as a licensed California real estate agent and investor. I have since retired my license to focus 100% on photography and media. That background changes everything about how I approach a listing shoot โ€” from understanding MLS deadlines to knowing what buyers respond to in listing photos.
